Border Patrol Releases Hundreds of Migrants at San Diego Bus Stop
Coming after San Diego runs out of aid money as "Migrant welcome center" forced to shut down
Border Patrol releases hundreds of migrants at a bus stop after San Diego runs out of aid money
Immigration has been a hot topic in recent months, especially in Texas. However, due to Texas’ stronger actions against immigration, immigrants have been finding other parts of the country to enter. And San Diego is a big hot spot, with hundreds of migrants being released at bus stops after the county runs out of aid money.
How have mainstream media been judging this story?
What is the left saying? The obvious focus was on the migrants and San Diego running out of aid money: ❝ Border Patrol releases hundreds of migrants at a bus stop after San Diego runs out of aid money There have been hundreds of thousands of migrants who’ve recently entered the country — either seeking asylum or are here just in the hope of a better life. But San Diego simply can’t handle it: “It’s not that funds ran out early, it’s that the funds were stretched as far as they could go,” The county supported the migrant welcome center but paused spending to assess the January flash flooding that badly affected the area. SBCS (South Bay Community Services) is a non-profit that helps migrants coming into the country and has served 81,000 migrants since October 11th. However, budgets were stretched too thin as SBCS told the county that its services cost $1.4m a month — the county only wanted to spend $1m. Last Thursday, unfortunately, the migrant welcome center had to close — with other large shelters already being full. | What is the right saying?Similar to the left, the majority of right-wing/right-leaning outlets focused on the main issue: Last Friday was the first day migrants were released into the streets of San Diego, with 550 being released on the first day by Border Patrol. SBCS — who’s been paid $6m since October — seems to be transporting migrants in and out of the center until other sorts of aid becomes available. The San Diego County supervisor Jim Desmond has blamed the Federal Government and the State of California for the border crisis, click this video for more of what he had to say: “This is entirely the fault of the Federal Government for its open border policies and the State of California for incentivizing people…” The “humanitarian crisis” going on in San Diego hasn’t seen a lot of support from the current “open border policy” — with the $6m helping SBCS coming from taxpayers. And it’s no surprise the border crisis has been highly contested between Republicans and Democrats — which will probably be one of the biggest talking points in this year’s election. |
