Here’s a recap of the Tucker Carlson & Vladimir Putin interview

Russia has been in the eyes and the minds of many Americans due to their icy relationship, dating back decades. But in the last few years, one Russian has been at the center of it all. Vladimir Putin. Ever since the invasion of Ukraine, there’s been a worldwide focus on him. This is Putin’s first interview since the war broke out, with Tucker Carlson being the one to interview him. Here are the 3 biggest takeaways/effects from the interview:

Is peace on the table?

Carlson posed this question to Putin and Putin’s response was a bit icy:

“After we withdrew our troops from Kiev, as I already said, the other side threw away all these agreements….to fight Russia until its bitter end”

Putin then continued stating that Mr Zelenskyy (President of Ukraine) signed a decree that prohibits negotiations with Putin. As it turns out, that is indeed the case; here’s a link to an article on the matter.

But interestingly enough, Zelenskyy didn’t dismiss peace talks entirely — only dismissing talks with Putin, not Russia. You can see that highlighted in the article here.

Back to the interview, as it turns out peace wasn’t looking likely… until a certain country got involved.

Putin’s thoughts on America’s role in the Russia-Ukraine War:

Putin — saying he can’t remember the last time he spoke with Joe Biden — questioned why America even got involved in the war.

“Don’t you have anything else better to do? You have issues on the border, issues with migration, issues with the national debt. So you should fight in Ukraine?”

America has already sent $113 billion in aid to Ukraine (which seems like a dip in the ocean compared to the US National debt Putin mentioned). And with talks of the US government sending US troops to fight in Ukraine, should America prioritize focus elsewhere, or should they keep pushing back against Putin and Russia? Would love to hear your thoughts on that question, drop a reply!

The controversies surrounding the interview

It’s no surprise this interview has stirred the emotions of many Americans over the last few days. Articles were put out defaming Carlson, here’s a couple I found:

“Hillary Clinton calls Tucker Carlson a 'useful idiot' in response to Putin interview”

“Putin Used Tucker Carlson to Wipe the Kremlin’s Floor”

Ultimately a lot of these opinions were coming from the left, the centrists and right-wing seemed more in support of the interview — as it’s important to hear from both Zelenksyy and Putin they stated.

The media weren’t the only ones to put out a warning too, Tucker Carlson was threatened by the EU with sanctions for interviewing Putin. Not only that, the political establishment said this regarding the interview:

“Remember, you’re listening to Vladimir Putin. You shouldn’t take at face value anything he has to say”

As this is one of the biggest interviews we’ve had in a very long time, I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Drop a reply!
